Hello and welcome to the first of our ‘What is WYGU?’ posts.
As we’re new there is clearly a lot you don’t know about us! And if you haven’t yet ventured into the site you won’t know all the amazing things the WYGU site can do for you. So each week we’ll be highlighting a different aspect of the site, telling you how it works, and showing you how it can help you in your search for a new career- or indeed further your role as a mentor.
This week we’re going to be telling you all about WYGUpedia (see what we did there?!) WYGUpedia is our careers wiki, it currently hosts information on over 850 careers ranging from cartoonist to chiropractor, embalmer to event and exhibition organiser. Information on jobs includes;
- Task and Responsibilities
- Job description
- Hours and environment
- Salarys and benefits
- Requirements
- Opportunities
As well as taking and using the information, you can also add to it. So you can build in any information that is missing, add completely new roles or even add specific company information.
The careers info can make an interesting read too- I for one was surprised to read that you don’t actually need a driving licence to be an astronaut. I also surprised to read that funeral directors have to be on-call 24/7!
All you need to do to start using WYGUpedia is create a profile on WYGU and start searching for the information that you need.
